Abstract

South Korean high school students in the competitive college entrance exam system use youth institutions less due to academic burdens and time constraints. However, youth institutions can facilitate development through support, which includes education, emotional development, cultural and artistic activities, social participation, and volunteer work. This study provides foundational data to expand the temporal and spatial scope of activities by investigating perceived difficulties in youth institution use, youth institution improvement perceptions, and the significance of support in the metaverse. A structural equation analysis of 666 South Korean high school students revealed that perceived difficulties in youth institution use influenced metaverse assistance perception and interest, partially mediated by youth institution improvement perceptions. From these findings, the paper offers suggestions to revitalize the metaverse learning space.
