A study on improving efficacy of lifelong learning in an aging society

The objective of this study is to seek the ways in which efficacy of lifelong learning for the middle-aged and the elderly characterized as baby boomers can be improved in an aging society that Korea is facing. Therefore, this study has been carried out with a focus on how the universities in network with local communities could support the middle-aged and the elderly who need to explore their career options for the second half of their lives after collecting and analyzing their needs and demands. The efficacy of lifelong learning for the middle-aged and the elderly can be conceptualized as enhancing lifelong employability near or after retirement and as increasing satisfaction in life by strengthening ties with their communities through talent donation in their second half of lives.
