A Study on the Parents’perceptions to Elementary School Transition

This study aims to analyze the parents’ awareness of and readiness for sending their children to primary school and provide plans to support both children and their parents in children’s smooth transition to primary school. To this end, this study first investigates previous studies on children’s transition and adaptation to primary school and educational policy in foreign countries, and then suggests support plans for children and their parents in the children’s staring primary school by analyzing questionnaire surveys for the parents of preschool and primary school students and in-depth interviews with both parents and teachers.

In addition to support plans for children’s transition to primary school, this study provides comprehensive plans to settle the continuity issues between preschool and primary school, and suggests some tasks that relevant educational institutions, such as offices of education, preschools and primary schools, may put into immediate practice.
