Research on How to Revitalize Primary and Secondary School Students’ Character Education (Ⅳ):

Develop in-service materials on character education for high school teachers

The purpose of this study is to develop instruction materials for in-service training of high school teachers in character education. This belongs to the project, “Research on How to Revitalize Primary and Secondary School Students”, which has been carried on since 2013.

This paper consists of two parts. The first part provides foundation for this study, which addresses a variety of analyses concerning character education such as related concepts and theories, education policy trend, practices and circumstance, actual circumstance of in-service education for teachers and needs assessment. The second part divides two part. At first it shows the development process of the instruction materials as well as the result and outcome. And then it includes policy suggestions for both character education of students and in-service training for teachers to attain instructional competence and professional knowledge in this area.
