This research purpose is to conduct a preemptive policy research as the youth with immigrant backgrounds mature into young adults. This research examined a wide range of discourse and theories on multiculturalism and migration, lifelong education, and youth policies. Quantitative statistical data and qualitative in-depth interviews were analyzed. The results showed that Young Immigrants had in common the element of immigration either by their parents or within their lifetime. In addition, there were differences between those who were born in Korea and those who were born abroad. Moreover, differences within each group depending on the environment in which they were raised, their socio-cultural background, linguistic fluency, individual willingness and characteristics were observed. This research goes beyond typologizing similarities and differences to consider the direction of lifelong education for Young Immigrants and to emphasize the need for policies and social scientific understanding of this demographic.
